Blog grading rubric for all classes
How are your assigned blog comments being graded? Going forward, here’s the rubric:
Credit Plus (6 points)
These posts are thought-full, substantial reflections on clearly identified aspects of the assignment. They are specific in their references, insightful in their assertions, provocative in their (explicit or implicit) questions. Such posts may initiate a significant thread of discussion or may synthesize and advance a given thread. These posts will often surprise the teacher with their fresh understanding of some aspect of the text. All posts are on time.
Credit (4-5 points)
These posts are thought-full, substantial reflections on specific issues raised by the assignment. They initiate or contribute to meaningful discussion of significant aspects of the topics. All posts are on time.
Half-Credit (3 points)
These posts tend to be fairly brief. While they may be expressing a potentially significant response to the assignment, they are also relatively vague and underdeveloped. Their expression may also be hampered by very little attention to spelling and mechanical writing issues. Posts may not be made on time.
No Credit (no points)
These posts contribute next-to-nothing to the thread. They may be very brief. They may merely repeat what has already been said by others, or they may merely re-tell some or all of the assignment. They may also, of course, be completely irrelevant to the discussion thread. Posts may not be made on time.
