I chose to use this painting because it is an older painting. I like the compositions, the bright flowers on the boat and the dog behind the girl. The girl’s body position shows a lot about her, her personality, her wealth, her youth and her beauty. Her body passion stands out and it’s different from other paintings. Everything in this painting goes well together and stands out.
“We Can Do It”- J. Howard Miller.
I chose to use this picture because it is very well known to almost everyone. She represents strong women which I would like to relate myself to. Since the picture looks kind of animated I think it should be fun to change my face to fit it. I also like that it is bright and eye catching at first glance.
For my Press Pass Project, I chose this photograph by Diane Arbus. This photograph has always caught my attention, being on the cover of the diane arbus book. This photograph interests me because of the range of values and the emotions depicted by the models. This photograph does not exactly relate to me, although I have always imagined what life would be like to live as a twin.
For my picture i chose to do this famous picture of Marilyn Monroe. When Mrs. Barrios told us that we didn’t need to do just a painting and that we could use a photo this classic picture of Marilyn Monroe popped into my head. I chose to do this picture because its an iconic picture for the time period it was taken in. The picture that i chose is also very fun and easy going and helps to reflect my personalty.
Eugene Delacroix- “Girl Stead in a Cemetery”
I first saw this painting in class sitting on the table and it caught my eye immediately. Even though it doesn’t quite fit my personality, I loved the way she was positioned and her facial expression. The tilt of her face and seemed like it would be very interesting to duplicate and her eyes really caught my attention because of how wide open they are and how they seem to take over her facial expression. I tend to be very easy to read because my face often reflects what I’m thinking and feeling, so the fact that she is so expressive and I can see what she’s feeling in the painting was very appealing to me. I knew that it would be an interesting challenge to mirror her expression and make it my own, and so far I have been right. I believe that all together, the elements in the painting will create a very interesting press pass.
Originally i had chosen a different picture from Rembrandt. The other picture I thought would be funny because of what the subject was wearing. This individual picture got me because of the pose. Since it is a portrait it is like a photograph, and i wanted a image that would have a similar pose to a normal photograph.
Twiggy, hair by Ara Gallant, Paris studio, January 1968 Richard Avedon
Upon seeing this photo, I was completely blown away. It came across as such a strong photo that I decided I had to use it for my project. The image is very fashion foward and graceful. I was probably drawn to this photo beacuse most of my life I had extremly long hair. Although today I have short hair, I always think of myself as the girl with long hair. I also love the mermaid- like aspect of this photo. The beach has always been my favorite place, and as a little girl I always hoped to find a mermaid there. This picture truly illustrates my childhood desire to become a mermaid and have beautiful long flowing hair.
