“I Love Lucy”

Every time I look at this picture I can’t help but laugh. “I Love Lucy” was such a funny show during the 1950’s and as a kid I remember watching the re-runs on T.V. Land every night before bed. This picture of Lucy and  Ethel in the chocolate factory reminds me so much of something my friends and I would get caught doing while working. Besides the fact that I LOVE chocolate, I also chose this picture because its so iconic. The picture is also so bright, full of color, fun, loud and very silly. Lucy and Ethel do whatever it takes to keep themselves from getting fired. This picture symbolizes me as well because I love hanging out with my friends and having a good time and it shows that memories will last forever.

roy lichtenstein: hopeless Hopeless: Roy Lichtenstein

Originally I was going to do a different picture but when I saw this, I was just completely drawn to it. I’ve seen many of Roy Lichtenstein’s works before and I love his style. When I saw this, the first thing that came to my mind was when I was younger reading comic books with my older brother. Even though it is a sad picture, it brought back happy memories to me. I love the fact that all you can see of the girl is her face and its the focal point of the picture. I also love that the colours in this picture are a little more subtle than usual and that they add to the mood of the photo.

King Tut

I chose this picture of King Tut because it completely caught my eye. I really like this picture because it isn’t something that people typically associate with photography. This picture really makes me think about dedication and commitment. Also, although the golden face of this 18 year old king looks emotionless, the colors and design bring him to life. This image reflects my interest in ancient Egypt and the commitment that people had towards their pharoahs.

twiggy

I chose this photo of the model Twiggy.  Twiggy was an amazing model because she completely changed the modeling industry in the 1960s with her iconic retro looks.  She was the first widely known teenage model, becoming famous around the age of sixteen.  After an era of voluptuous pin ups,  Twiggy was the first popular stick thin model- hence her nickname Twiggy, due to her thin frame.  Twiggy also had a very recognizable style of makeup.  Her eyelashes were very long and usually even drawn on underneath her eyes.  Twiggy is my favorite model; I love her unique retro look, and how she changed the modeling industry.

Jim Morrison, author- unknown

Jim Morrison, author- unknown

I chose this picture because i am a big fan of the doors and love their music. I also chose it because it has warm rich colors such as orange, red, yellow and purple which really represents the 60’s and 70’s. It has a cool design and has the date of birth and death of Jim Morrison. Since Morrison died when he was only 27, people only know him as looking like this, making him look forever young and timeless.

diane-arbus

For my Press Pass Project, I chose this photograph by Diane Arbus. This photograph has always caught my attention, being on the cover of the diane arbus book. This photograph interests me because of the range of values and the emotions depicted by the models. This photograph does not exactly relate to me, although I have always imagined what life would be like to live as a twin.

Rembrandt

Originally i had chosen a different picture from Rembrandt. The other picture I thought would be funny because of what the subject was wearing. This individual picture got me because of the pose. Since it is a portrait it is like a photograph, and i wanted a image that would have a similar pose to a normal photograph.
