This is a second choice you can choose for the photo mosaic project.

In this project it is not required to have a focal point taken by a camera. You will take pictures using pattern and colors to create your focal point in the scence that you had come up with.

Steps to create this project:

  • Think up a scene/idea
  • Take photos to build the scene using pattern and color
  • Take around 10 pictures for your scene

Digital Mosaic Project

For this project you will be using a digital camera!!

You will take a photo to be your focal point (Take more than one just so you have more then one to work with)

After taking your focal point picture you should take a bunch of photos which include pattern and color (This is when taking a salad photo is good) (Take a lot of different textures and shapes because some may work and some may not work.

With these photos you will develop a photo mosaic with a focal point. The salad pictures will direct the photo towards the focal point. You can use color paper in the project and another variation to the project is making a mosaic landscape like the example of the wolf in the city.

Think of different patterns and shapes and be creative!!!

When you are done taking photos do not print them out at home…bring your camera to school and you will print them in class. Almost all the wires are in class but if you have a dock then bring that in.Cool

I choose Sam B. as the next Scribe

When shooting this next assignment, please remember this. In fact, write it on a piece of tape and put it on the back of your camera! If your light meter is telling you “too dark” (reading is in the negative zone) then lower the number of your f-stop, or your shutter speed.

Today I assigned the the next photo shoot assignment. Your goal in this shoot is to photograph one subject at 3 different distances. All three photos should be interesting on their own, and there should be a clear visual relationship between the three. Here are some starting tips:

-preset your f-stop for the most distant shot at f-16 or f-22. (of course, check your light meter!)

-for the 2nd shot, cut your distance aproximately in half. This may mean you have to change your f-stop. Check your light meter!

-for your 3rd and last shot, use a close-up filter, and yes, CHECK YOUR LIGHT METER!!!

Did I mention you should check your light meter?!

If you are shooting with a role of 24, shoot at least 6 different subjects, 3 shots each. DOn’t just shoot 3 photos total!

A few more things to remember:

-In addition to changing your distance, you can change your vantage point (eye level, worm’s eye, bird’s eye)

-landscape does not have to mean trees and grass and flowers. Remember the examples I showed in class.

-DON’T TAKE PHOTOS IN PREDICTABLE PLACES LIKE YOU BACKYARD!!! Get out there. Have your camera with you at all times, ready for anything!

-The role of film (not developed!) is due on Tuesday 10/14
