This is a great photo that I found in the New York Times. The caption reads” Yu Tingyun, left, lost his daughter, Yang, in the May earthquake in in southwest China, and Huaung Lianfen, right, lost a nephew. Ms. Huaung held an agreement that Chinese officials want parents to sign, saying they will not hold protests about collapsed schools.”

Look at this photo in terms of its content as well as it’s composition. Start a conversation about the formal elements in this photo, and how they convey the message. Think about how you wrote the last analysis of a NY Times photo…follow that approach and format.

Now get talking!
