                   Have you ever been asked,  “Why are you reading that terrible book?”  Are you tired of buying then throwing a book in the closet after the first few chapters?  I have and it’s a waste of time and money!  If you want to stop wasting your money and start reading a good book, than read on!

                   When you chose a book you have to make sure the  book is just right.  Always make sure you’re reading a just-right book.  One way you can do that is by using the five finger test.  To do that, first read the first two to three pages.  When you come across a word that you don’t understand put one finger up.  If all five fingers on your hand go up, then that book is too hard and you should go get another book.  Do this EVERY TIME you pick a book whether the book is for a book report, if you want to read it to you class, or a book you got just for the fun of reading.  Remember, if you don’t do this you book will be too hard.

                  Pick a book that you want to read.  When you pick a book it is important that you like what you are reading.  Try to pick a book that your friends recommend , or a book that lots of people are reading.  I like reading fiction books, because they are entertaining.   Don’t let someone else pick your book.  Go out and buy the book yourself, or you might end up with a book that you don’t like.

                             To help understand your reading, predict.  You don’t have to predict all the time , but do it at least every two or three times you finish reading.  To do that, first read a little bit of the book.  Then, using what you just read , think about what will happen next. This will help a lot.  If you don’t do this you will have a hard time understanding the book.    

                             If you  don’t understand, reread.   Lets say that you read something like how to build a house.  You probably won’t understand it the frst time you read it.  If that happens you should reread until you do.  If you don’t reread you will not understand the the rest of the book.

                             Yeah!  Now you can pick and read a good book. This will work even if you’re an adult or a a child.  So go and get a book!

               Here is an amazing story about how I found my gigantic turtle. I bet you want to hear about it! Well if you do, than go back 3 months and get ready for a great story!         

     It was a long day at school and I was waiting for my dad to pick me up. To pass the time, I would talk to friends. When my dad came he called me over very quickly as if there was a bomb in the school! When I got into the car I asked what was happening. He said that everything was ok except that there was a turtle under my sister’s car!   Inside I felt a little scared. I was worried because it might go onto the road and get run over. When I got home it was still there. I was so relieved! My dad went to get a box and I just watched the turtle. It wasn’t soon before she tried to run away. I stopped her, and she tried to bite me but she missed. Eventually she calmed down and my dad got the box and we left for the pet store. When we got there, the guy said we could keep her.

             It was a phenomenal day! I was so happy that my dad found my turtle! Before and after dinner I studied my new turtle. I realized that she only had 3 legs! When I went to sleep I couldn’t wait to see my turtle again!
