So many of us wish we were more creative! You can be…it just takes practice!
DON’T CONVINCE YOURSELF THAT A PERSON IS BORN THAT WAY!!!
Being able to draw realistically is about being about to SEE! So start REALLY looking and observing and noticing things that previously went unnoticed.
- Change one habitual act, ie moving garbage can
- Notice what you started thinking about when someone was talking to you. Notice what made you stop and refocus when this happened.
Random Acts of Creativity:
Combine things that don’t typically “go” together.
Brainstorm ideas in new and different ways. (draw with ketchup!) BE UNPREDICTABLE
Creative Play! Make things because it’s fun, not because it’s important. Ideas may grow from here, and if not, you had fun!
Come up with A TON of ideas for a drawing, even if you have no idea how you would actually make it. Be as detailed as possible, and don’t be scared to be as ridiculous as possible.
DON’T BE AFRAID TO FAIL. DON’T BE AFRAID TO MAKE “BAD” ART!!!
“Food for Thought”…research, look at photos, look at the world, talk to people.
COLLABORATE! Network! Know who your muses are. Who do you find it easy to talk to and brainstorm with.
