Project timeline: Brainstorming
November 26th, 2008 by mfrerichsHere are some initial thoughts on a timeline for an elementary school class project on the Inauguration: School opens on January 6, 2009. We would have two weeks before the Inaugural. Fourth grade ELA testing is the week of January 12. Fourth grade will be pressed to participate. Below is a Webspiration flow chart of ideas.
Kennedy Inauguration
November 14th, 2008 by mfrerichsCan we allow our students to miss an event like this in their lifetimes?
ePals Election Central
November 14th, 2008 by mfrerichsWould you like your students to connect to the global community as the Inauguration approaches? Check out ePals Election Central. This is an opportunity for students in your classroom to safely connect to classrooms around the world. You will need to get your principal’s approval to create a free account. In addition, there are parental approval forms that would need to be filled out before students could participate.
Are there any downsides to DirecTV?
November 13th, 2008 by equinsonIt sounds like Direct TV might work for FFMS. Obviously, I am no technician, but I’m happy to see new ideas to get this idea off the ground. I only wish I had the technological experitise to be a part of this solution. What are the possible down sides to DirecTV?
Possibilities for television connection
November 12th, 2008 by mfrerichsDirecTV offers a package for schools called SCHOOL CHOICE. A school can receive at no cost up to 4 standard receivers or 3 standard receivers and 1 DIRECTV Plus® DVR. It is then up to the school to get it installed. Once the equipment is installed, the school receives a free basic service package.Installation is an issue that I believe can be resolved. Most installers like to connect the dished to the roof. Most of our roofs are under warranty, and I do not believe buildings and grounds will want to cut into the roof. There are numerous places on our buildings where a dish can be installed without cutting into the roof.
