Art Honor Society Induction – Thursday, April 11, 7pm

It is with great pleasure that we induct this year’s newest members!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Officers and Exhibits committee members should plan to arrive at 6:30pm, all other members and inductees not later than 6:45pm.

All members and Inductees, please remember to bring your donation of an art supply for the Artist Express Program.

There will be a fundraiser for Bead for Life in the Main entrance. Jewelry prices range from $10-$25. We hope you can support this great charity!

The Dana Sassano Design Stipend – Applications due 4/15

Dana Sassano was a talented art student at Clarkstown High School North who passed away in her senior year.  Her best friend in high school started this stipend in her name.  This $250 stipend will be awarded to one art student  to offset the cost of art supplies.  Applicants must be attending college to study art.

 

Criteria:

  • -B+ or higher in an AP or IB Art Program
  • Pursuing a design major at any College / University

 

Submission requirements:

  • Submit a 500 word paragraph on what inspires you as an artist and why you are choosing a design career path.
  • 3-4 sample works of art (from school projects or personal work).
  • Proof of major – pdf of relevant common app documents.

 

How to apply:

  • Create a google folder with first and last name and Sassano Scholarship.
  • Include the following documents in the folder:
    • Save both the essay and works of art to one pdf document names with students first and last name.
    • Proof of major pdf.
    • Share the google folder with ndiamond@ccsd.edu.

Media:
Orientation: Landscape (images are wider than tall); a width:height ratio of 16:9 is preferred.
Photographs, single media images, or mixed media images are acceptable.

Editing:
Photographs should accurately reflect the subject matter and scene as it appeared.
Cropped photos are eligible, as are digitally created entries.
Slight enhancements, such as spotting, dodging and burning, sharpening, contrast, and slight color adjustments or the digital equivalents, are acceptable.
Both color and monochrome images are acceptable.

Digital Submission Requirements:
JPG format with a minimum of 72 dpi (resolution)
1920 x 1080 pixels (width x height) minimum

File name requirements:
Name the file using the format “FirstInitial.LastName.EntryImage.jpg”
Example: Sally Jones’s artwork file will be named “S.Jones.EntryImage.jpg”

How to Submit:
Email your art teacher the image file

(you can print and fill out the entry for, then take a picture of it and email it to me with the picture.)

AMTNYS POSTER CONTEST Winner – Jessica Luu

The Math Department would like to congratulate Jessica Luu for taking first place in New York State in the High School Division of the AMTNYS (Association of Mathematics Teachers of New York State) Poster Contest.

Jessica designed a poster around the theme “Building Mathematical Communities Together.” Jessica’s poster will be on display in the concourse level of the Legislative Building of the Empire State Plaza in Albany in April 2019.
