The Summer Academy for High School Students is the definitive summer program for talented and motivated young artists. Rigorous, college-level studio courses in drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking and illustration are supplemented with field trips to museums and galleries in Philadelphia, New York, and Washington D.C. The program culminates in a student exhibition in PAFA’s museum – the first art museum in America!
June 27 – August 12
Intensive courses offer teens the valuable opportunity to develop and honetheir skills under the guidance of PAFA faculty. All levels welcome.

YOUTH   MEDIA   ARTS   SHOW

ACADEMIC ARTS BUILDING 

Students who attend school in the Lower Hudson Region of NYS are invited to exhibit their work at this show.  Photography, Digital Images, Film, Video, Animation, Creative Sound, Graphic Arts are eligible media.  Students who are interested in attending the NYS Summer School of the Media Arts may meet with SED adjudicators who will interview them and evaluate their portfolios.

Students who are not enrolled in a related media class may register on their own but must be accompanied to the show by a parent or teacher. Students taking a media course in their junior or senior high school should register through their teacher.

EXEMPLARY AWARD

Students may enter their work prior to the show to be evaluated for an Exemplary Award.  Work that is accepted for an award will be included in the opening video for the show and students will receive a commemorative award acknowledging their achievement.

Students who are not enrolled in a related media class may submit entries on their own but must be accompanied to the show by a parent or teacher. Students taking a media course in their junior or senior high school should submit entries through their teacher.

ENTRIES MAY BE MAILED OR HAND DELIVERED, BUT MUST BE RECEIVED BY  FEBRUARY 6, 2012.  The work will be judged on February 10.

Hand deliveries must be addressed to Jerry Maselli at the WCC (Valhalla campus) and brought to the Library, located in the center of campus during library hours: Monday-Thursday till 9PM; Friday till 5PM.

North American Nature Photography Association-Summer Program Scholarship

Who will be the next great nature photographer?

NANPA is currently accepting nominations and applications for its High School and College Scholarship Programs.  Students will be offered a rare, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to attend the 18th Annual NANPA Nature Photography Summit in Jacksonville, Florida where they’ll participate in field workshops and classroom instruction designed specifically for them.  Scholarships cover all lodging, meals, and the Summit registration fee.  Transportation to and from Jacksonville is not included.

High School Program Info
Students must be 14 years old by June 1, 2012, but not yet 19 as of January 1, 2013.  Nomination/application deadline is November 30, 2012.  Program description and application info available here.

College Program Info
Applicants must be full-time students at a two or four-year college, university or trade school and be at least 19 years of age by December 31, 2012.    Nomination/application deadline is November 16, 2012.  Program description and application info available here.
